Food Card Program


With the government shutdown ended, the USDA has confirmed that full November SNAP benefits will be distributed. While the exact timeline has not been finalized, SNAP benefits should be distributed soon by the state of Indiana. Therefore LUM is ending Food Card Assistance on Friday, November 14, 2025.


Emergency Grocery Assistance

In response to the hunger crisis created by the federal government shutdown, Lafayette Urban Ministry and Wabash Township will provide emergency assistance to purchase groceries to SNAP-eligible Tippecanoe County residents who will not receiving their regular monthly benefits during the shutdown.

The township where you live will determine where you can receive assistance. You can determine your township here: censusreporter.org 

If you are a resident of Wabash Township, you should visit your township trustee for assistance. To view application, click HERE.

If you are a resident of the below townships and have not received food assistance in November from Fairfield Township, you can receive assistance from Lafayette Urban Ministry.

WHAT is Offered:

  • Gift Card:
    • Food only purchases
    • $25 per person in your household who qualifies for SNAP benefits
    • Good only at an Aldi store
    • One time only (and have not received assistance from Fairfield Township)

Who may get Food Cards:

  • Tippecanoe County residents only
  • SNAP recipient
  • Have not received SNAP benefit assistance this month from Fairfield Township

  • Valid ID
  • Completed form (link to PDF) (form in process)
  • Proof of residence (Lease, mortgage statement, utility bill, or government correspondence)
  • Proof of SNAP eligibility for each member of your household (Eligibility letter or be prepared to log into your FSSA portal)
  • ID and proof of SNAP eligibility must match.
